BUILDING PEACE IN THE MINDS OF MEN:THE ECONOMICS OF PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST
A BEST PRACTICES MODEL

The olive branch is a symbol of peace. It is associated with the customs of ancient Greece mythology and is connected with supplication to gods and persons in power. Likewise, it is found in most cultures of the Mediterranean Basin[1] and has become a near-universal peace symbol in the modern world. It is also mentioned in Scripture when the dove returned to Noah's ark carrying an olive branch in its beak (Gen. 8:11). Since that time, the olive branch has been a symbol of “peace” to the world, and we often hear the expression, “extending an olive branch” to another person as a desire for peace.

The InterParliamentary Coalition for Global Ethics/Peace Beyond Borders has initiated a groundbreaking project along with various partners to train the future leaders of the Abraham Accords as a best practices model for conflict resolution and the establishment of a culture of peace. This project aims to serve as a guideline for current leaders and civil society around the globe and to "Build Peace in the Minds of Men". The Abraham Accords Alliance for Peace Beyond Borders is networking with the following organizations in this endeavor: U.N. University for Peace, UAE Trends Research and Advisory, Journeys for Peace, My Ways Studio, the European Council of Rabbis, Global Council of Imams, World Evangelical Alliance, World Academy of Arts and Sciences, Sapienza University Department of Law and Religion, World University Consortium and the Institute for the Study of the Levant, The Center for Righteousness and Integrity, Alsadiqin, Jewish Council of the Emirates.

The workshop to explore the economics of peace in the Middle East is crucial in light of the events surrounding the war in the Middle East and will be vital in its aftermath to develop tools to prevent future hostilities and atrocities.

Europe, the Western world and indeed all U.N. member states will be called upon to finance the aftermath of war in the Middle East as is the case in all past wars in the region and indeed in international conflicts around the globe, One of the basic factors missing in all fundraising efforts for rebuilding and rehabilitation in the aftermath of wars is the issue of education for the culture of peace. As specified in the UNESCO Charter, just as the seeds of war arise in the minds of men, the seeds of peace must be planted in the minds of men.

In order for the world's economic investments to rebuild and rehabilitate in the aftermath of war in the Middle East to be viable, attention must be paid to institute education for the culture of peace and SDGs as a foundation for any economic aid to war torn areas, This will be the major tool to prevent future hostilities, terrorism and wars.

The roundtable will present the best practices model offered by the IPCGE AA Culture of Peace Leadership Education initiative, especially in light of the war in the Middle East which has been discussed at the inaugural strategy roundtable in Dubai, February 2023, at Rome Sapienza University, March 2023, at a side event at the High Level Forum for the Culture of Peace in the United Nations headquarters, August 30th and more recently at the EU parliament, November 28th 2023.

As the origin of the symbol of peace is in Greece, it is fitting for the call for action on this initiative arise from the Greek House Davos. Greece, which is known as "the cradle of civilization" should take its rightful place in this endeavor at the Davos Economic Forum and the world stage.
